Thorbergur Centre of Culture, The

Thorbergur Centre of Culture was built in memory of the famous Icelandic writer Þórbergur Þórðarson (1888–1974), who was born in Hali. Thorbergur centre is an interesting cultural heritage museum  with a unique historical exhibition of the district Sudursveit and the writer Þórbergur Þórðarson’s life and work. At Thorbergur centre is also a fully licensed Restaurant and coffee house. Traditional Icelandic food is being served, such as Arctic Char and Lamb, both local products from the farm Hali. Thorbergur centre is located by main road nb. 1, only 13 Km east of Jökulsárlón.
