Hrafnseyri in Arnarfjörður, in the Westfjords of Iceland, is the birthplace of Jón Sigurðsson (1811-1879), the leader of Iceland’s struggle for independence from Danish rule in the 19th century. Jón’s life goal was to liberate the country from Danish rule.
