Snorrastofa Cultural Centre in Reykholt

Snorrastofa was founded in memory of Snorri Sturluson, Iceland’s most important saga writer, chieftain, and poet, who settled in Reykholt in 1206 and was murdered there in the fall of 1241. The hot Snorralaug (Snorri’s pool) is one of the most famous ancient structures in Iceland. Snorrastofa manages research projects, runs a library and a gift shop, and provides exhibitions and reception for travellers. Reykholt Music Festival is an annual event in the church, held each year in the last weekend of July.
