Ólafsdalur by Gilsfjörður; History of 1000 years

Ólafsdalur is a small valley, surrounded by high mountains,  where the first agricultural school in Iceland was established in 1880. Beautiful school-building from 1896 and remains of many other buildings and man made structures from 1880-1900. Interesting walking paths. Exhibitions about the history of the school. Recently found remains of a Viking longhouse fom 9-10th century! Coffee and light refreshments. Ólafsdalur organic vegetables for sale.
The Ólafsdalur Festival will be held on August 11th.
