The Cathedral at Hólar

The Cathedral at Hólar is the oldest stone church in Iceland, consecrated in 1763. The present church is the fifth cathedral at Hólar, since the foundation of Hólar as a bishopric in 1106. The cathedral is home to some of the most precious church artifacts in all of Iceland, all of them kept in their original place, including the celebrated altarpiece Hólabrík.
